Ursus Technologies is a software development company specialized in reliable and scalable solutions that includes customized software development to business customers.

The business goal was to design and implement SSRS reports, based on existing COBOL / ISAM business logic.

In detail, the SoftPilot2000's goal was to replicate a series (for about 100) of printed reports using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services technology.  These reports replicate the currently displayed data in the existing ERP system reports along with all of the business logic required to produce the correct results.  The reports utilize the newly built data model which is hosted in SQL Server 2005.

The main problem for us during this project implementation was to extract the correct business rules for the data processing from the COBOL / ISAM sources. No other documentation been exist.

These reports was created using COBOL programs.  The data been resided in COBOL ISAM Files and all of the output is sent directly to printers on the network using hard-coded UNC paths.  Unfortunately, there is no documentation of the business logic used to produce theresults on each of the reports been exist.  It was required for Outsourcing-Soft / softPilot2000  to read the COBOL sources in turn to determinate the business logic for each of the fields on the report and how the COBOL data fields are related to the new SQL Server data model.

This long project been finished succesfully due to the close cooperation with our customer which is actually succesfull and highly experienced IT professional. This hard work was excited experience for Outsourcing-Soft.

Implemented : C# Object-oriented environment with object data sources support, the set of SSRS reports and MS SQL stored procedures.

• Old single - user ERP reporting programs been converted from the COBOL language and ISAM flat database files to the new SSRS client - server multiuser environment.
• The technology implemented helps the customer to save the business rules as well as the business procedures unchanged.
• The new modern reporting subsystem environment implemented helps  the customer's ERP solution to succesfully grow in the future and be more flexible and compatible with the modern multi - user data processing environment, including Microsoft Office, SSRS and SSIS technology.
• User interface designed in compliance with HTML and PDF standards.
